FF7(PC)
as stupid as it might seem I've got real problems to stop the train from crashing into Corel... an all the walkthroughs I've looked at to find the solution didn't work for me. the most precise solution was Quote (thecomputershow) - Once you board the Shinra's train, battle your way up through to the controls. In stopping the train, you will need to quickly tap: - [Up]+[Triangle](menue) - [Down]+[X](cancel) - Press the [circle](ok) button to clear the messages (For those of you who are still not completely sure what to do to make the train stop, simply bashing all the buttons will also work too. (^o^) even the bashing-all-buttons didn't work t.t is there something more which i need to pay attention for? like speed or such? I've did the quick button pressing vor 4 min(or more) each try straight and now am desperated .,. I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've tried it over 15 times, each time reloading each time beating the enemies, each time stealing the bracelet from the eagel gun and never succeeding in stopping the train T_T |

What I did was (for default controls) hit down(2 on the num pad) and 0 on the num pad at the same time. I normally stopped it with quite a bit of time left.

I had real trouble with this the first time. It's been a while, but the way I remember it, I had to get the rhythm right - pressing the buttons too fast didn't seem to help matters. You have to methodically press Up + MENU (numpad+), let go, Down + CANCEL (numpad0), let go, Up + MENU, let go, etc.
It's much more intuitive with the default gamepad controls, because you're pressing left side up + right side up, and left side down + right side down. It's a shame the PC controls don't work out as well. If you've reassigned the buttons at all, you could also try pressing the original buttons as detailed on the buttons page. Some mini games require the original buttons, for some stupid reason; I don't know whether this is one. |

I seem to remember 3 things happening before the train stops.
1) Someone says you've made it go faster. 2) Similar words to that effect. 3) 'Waaa', 'Oh no', 'Gaaa' etc. Then to cut scene. I did get worried trying to stop the train using a guide or whatever, just whatever you do, do it with conviction. |

Well, my problem is the other way around. Only once have I managed to crash the train into Corel. I have tried many times after, but the train always stops!! (which is a good thing)

Quote 1) Someone says you've made it go faster. 2) Similar words to that effect. 3) 'Waaa', 'Oh no', 'Gaaa' etc. Then to cut scene. The trick is to make it go faster. I don't know why this is; maybe Cid accelerates so much the train pulls an automatic brake, or the creators might have wanted to confuse the player by making slower crash and faster stop. All you really have to do is what the game itself tells you to do. If it looks like the train is accelerating, you got it right. Edit although for all I know the buttons may be harder to coordinate on PC, I've only played Playstation FFVII This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 15th November 2006 04:27 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I tried it 3 more times the regular way hitting the buttons simultaniously, but failed.
maybe it's the fault of my keyboard which is wireless and caused problems with hitting two buttons at the same time before... anyway the fourth time i tried it again with bashing all the buttons ( up, down, Menue and cancel) and ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() time when i tried this, but now it functioned and thats all what counts ^^ 1 safed town^^, but then again who knows if the train wouldn't have crashed if one wouldn't have tried to steal the hughe materia... I never understood this bit either. I always just said to Cid: "Shut up you damn cheap pilot, stop telling me to speed up the train, what good will that do. Are you drunk?" It was some time before I realised there was an EMERGENCY BRAKE...
