For some reason, Barret and Vincent's ultimate weapons seem to suck... Barret with Max Ray deals around 2250 damage per hit, and around 200 with Missing Score. Vincent deals around 3000 damage per hit with Supershot ST, and around 500 with Death Penalty.

What's up with that? The two weapons don't have like a reverse Ultima Weapon effect, do they?

The trick to Barret's weapon is: the more materia you equip on it, the stronger it gets. As for Vincent's, the more enemies you kill, the stronger it gets. I wouldn't have known how they worked either if I hadn't gone on a FFVII shrine.

not neccessarily materia, but AP.

so give barret materia with a high potential for AP.

Thanks.

'All' Materia have the most AP when mastered, right? Should I just fill up any empty spots Barret has with mastered 'All' materia?

Trial and error works well, test him with All materia if you fancy. To be honest I just give Barret the materia he would've had anyway and hit for 9999; once he had a few power sources under his belt.

And for Vincent's Death Penalty, the damage inflicted is linked to how many enemies he's killed. A bit like getting a new level of limit break.

If you mean: "Weapons that power up on the same way than those."
- No.

If you mean: "Weapons that power up under on constant conditions."
- Yes, there is. Yuffie.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yuffie weapon powers up depending on the opponents level.
Look at this formula:
Quote
Conformer power up:
Power Up = ( Attack * Enemy Level / 16 )

This means that, an enemy at level 50 would - aproximatedly - triple your attack. (So, clearly, one at level 99 would do twice as good.)

It also should be noticed that ability modifiers are overwritten. That means, Yuffie still would do full damage using Morth (instead of 1/8).

I just did some research and found these results:

AERIS GAINSBOROUGH - PRINCESS GUARD
The Princess Guard will power up in battle when an ally's HP reaches 0.

BARRET WALLACE - MISSING SCORE
The more AP the equipped materia has, the more powerful the Missing Score become.

CAIT SITH - MARVELOUS CHEER
When the Marvelous Cheer is equipped, the higher the percentage of MP Cait Sith has, the more powerful it becomes.

CID HIGHWIND - VENUS GOSPEL
Like Cait Sith's Marvelous Cheer, the higher the percentage of MP Cid has, the more powerful the Venus Gospel becomes.

CLOUD STRIFE - ULTIMA WEAPON
The higher the percentage of HP Cloud has, the more powerful the Ultima Weapon becomes.

RED XIII - LIMITED MOON
The higher the percentage of MP Red has, the more powerful the Limited Moon becomes.

TIFA LOCKHEART - PREMIUM HEART
The Premium Heart powers up when Tifa gets a 'Miss' on her Limit Break slot machine.
Edit
THis doesn't seem to work...

VINCENT VALENTINE - DEATH PENALTY
The more enemies Vincent kills ( as in, he delivers the final blow ), the more powerful the Death Penalty becomes.

YUFFIE KISARAGI - CONFORMER
The Conformer powers up when Yuffie's enemies' levels are higher than hers.

I knew something was wrong when Tifa hit less than 100 damage...

I'm not going to Quote all this. Just read the previous post.

Whoa! ... ...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Caith Sith's HP Shout] powers up acording to his HP levels (like Cloud), not MP.

[Tifa's Premium Heart] powers up depending on your limit level and how high your limit bar is, if you have a limit, you'll do optimal damage. It is also rumored that if you score a "Miss" at her limit, it powers up as well. But I dunno about that (It never seemed to work with me).

[Yuffie's Conformer] powers up depending on the enemy level, not: Their Lv - Her Lv.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everithing else is correct.

As a side note, The Ultimate weapons aren't the only weapons in the game with power ups (if you didn't know already).

And, finally, I would like to add that - according to my formulas - if you have 500.000 AP on Barret's Missing score his attack will be tripled (Aproximatedly).
In other words, insert one mastered 'Knights of the Round' materia and you're done (thats just to give you an idea). Anyhow, Missing Score is quite easy to power up.

I found something really weird. I was fighting a Master Tonberry, and Cloud got killed, but he final attacked with Pheonix. For the rest of the battle, Tifa hit for 9999 instead of 100-150 she had been doing up until Cloud died and revived... But it was only for that battle. The next one, she went back to hitting for crappy amounts.

Maybe there's something with that?

It was probably just because she had a high limit bar, then you either used her limit or reset it by changing it in some way before the next battle.

Were you using the Premium Heart? The Master Fist might have powered-up in your situation.

Hmm... That's surely interesting.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to my formula, Tifa would have a 16th of her power with an empty Limit Bar. To, even then, be able to score a 9999, you'd need all that you could have.

Ex. Critical Hit, Hero Drinks, Berserk...

Still, Tonberry King is not so weak, and he wasn't caught in a Back Attack. I am mostly convinced that to be a bug, it is quite a common thing in this game.
But any other information brought forth would be much appreciated, to shine some light in this matter.

It's my 3rd day trying to make Death Penalty doing higher damage. And the progress is that instead of 1900 he makes 2500 and sometimes 4500 sad.gif I give Yuffie and Cloud defend in battle and I only fight with Vincent. Well, their level is not so high. It's 77. I give them sources to be equal in their defense, attack etc. But there's still a difference... Does the level of the opponent reflect on the death penalty? In other words if I kill 5 frogs for example will the effect be the same as killing 5 Master Tonberrys ? And I have another question: Do the battles in the Battle Arena in Gold Saucer count? Cause I sent him to fight there yesterday but it doesn't seem to have effect. But I only made 4-5 whole rounds with 8 battles each... unsure.gif

In case anyone didnt say this, Tifas power is related to how much of her limit bar is filled I believe. The lower amount of Limit you have, the less damage you do.

Master Tonberry, thank you very much for the useful advice. I found a perfect place - a forest near Nibelheim where I fight with 6 mushrooms at once. rolleyes.gif

- No, a kill is a kill, be it a 'Frog' or a 'Master Tonberry'.

- Aparantly nothing in the Battle Square counts, by the simple fact that, they're not "real'' battles.
- After the battle ends, you don't get to the ''prizes'' screen, and so, don't get to colect Gil, Exp, AP, etc. Kills for Vincent should work similarly. I can tell for experience that Vincent Death Penalty doesn't get any more powerfull from battling in the Battle Square.
