I've used counter for a long time, because I remember that hamedo wasn't triggered half as often as counter was. Counter basically counters all physical attacks, including physical skills, but from my experience, I think hamedo was only triggered by normal attacks. This site cites hamedo as being very useful, but I had a lot of trouble with it. What attacks trigger hamedo, what did you use, etc?

I think the more brave, the more chance of blocking. Hamedo doesn't work nearly as much because it completely blocks the enemy attack and deals one of your own.

Counter is more reliable than Hamedo, in my experience. BUT USE NIETHER!! AUTO POTION IS THE ANSWER TO ALL!!!

Auto-Potion is my easy way out, I try not to use it anymore. But then again, I use Blade Grasp, which is just as cheap.

I always use Hamedo, in my opinion its the best skill for the monk class. All you really need is good luck. plus i think it deals double DMG if its triggered.

I used to use Hamedo for all my characters, but doesn't it only work against human opponents? Now, I've found something better. Blade Grasp. Blade grasp works against all normal attacks, monstor and human. It doesn't work on special attacks like Choco Ball, Cat Kick, Ice Soul, etc. I've found it to be the most useful, and the higher your Brave, the better it works. My characters Brave are high enought hat the percent of an enemy's normal attack damaging them is about 3%.

Good ol Blade Grasp. So cheap, yet so effective.
I never ever used Auto-Potion. Don't like the concept, and besides, which potions to use, which would give enough hp back? -------------------- Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting down at the aquarium, Chief. Wiggum: Do they still sell those frozen bananas? Lou: I think so. Wiggum: Let's roll. |

I always used Counter instead of Hamedo, simply because of consistency. Hamedo may be great when it works, but I don't like the idea of trading effect for efficiency, particularly when it's equipped on heavy hitters like Ninjas and Monks.
I like both Auto-Potion and Blade Grasp, simply because they rock, and either of the two would make you relatively untouchable. Auto-Potion is particularly useful later on in the game, where you have such exorbitant amounts of money that you can waste them on the highest-level potions you can buy, just for the ability. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Counter works on physical attacks. Hamedo works with the 'Attack' command (and doesn't work with Choco Attack, Tackle, etc.). Blade Grasp blokcs most physical attacks, even ones it's not supposed to (gun shots, arrows, etc.). The chance of a reaction ability working is Brave%, except for Weapon Guard, which adds your weapon's evasion to your evasion (basically, activating the Weapon Evade stat in your weapon(s)), and Abandon (which doubles your Evade). Personally, I like Damage Split.

I stop using Hamedo because I kept getting killed because of my trust in it. I never had much trouble with it working- unless i really wanted it to work.
Also i agree with the fact that it only works against humans, i don't remember it ever working on monsters (that's why when I do use it I put it on right before a story-line battle). -------------------- "Son of a submariner" Â Â Â Â Â -Kefka |

In my experience, Hamedo is grrrrreeat for brawlers (ie the characters that just get in there and KILL). And yes, it ONLY works for human enemies, not monsters. Period. So i usually keep counter on the side for when im level racking, and Hamedo for story bouts. Dont doubt the power of the Hamedo tho! Against human attackers, its pretty RARE that an attack goes through. And couple that with Two Sword or Two Hands....... ugh..... talk about instant killz. Blade Grasp is very usefull with Mages. I usually like to have one very powerful mage with counter magic (fixes the magic problem), and blade grasp (fixes the oh so pesky physical attack problem).
Auto Potion is worthless except for the beginning of the game. And if anyone knows how to get it to use Xpotions instead of regular (cant unlearn abilities and i believe every character knows potion to begin with)..... please say so!! -------------------- :::::::::::maaneskyggen::::::::::: |

Auto Potion has a Brave% chance of using the lowest-level potion you have when attacked. If you want it to use X-Potions, throw away all your Potions and Hi-Potions. If you have a ton of Elixirs and you want it to use those, I think it will if you throw away all your Potions, Hi-Potions, and X-Potions.
