Okay. We've all seen it in other places.
What are your favourite materia combos? I have a habit of putting Final Attack - Phoenix / MP Turbo - Knights of the Round on Cloud. But Master Tonberrys are extremely annoying with Everyone's Grudge just because you have Sprint Shoes on and you want to finish him off quickly. Anyway, getting off topic there... So post me the best / your favourite combos for Final Fantasy VII. Psst... Another Favourite - Counter Attack x13 + Cover on Yuffie for defeating Emerald WEAPON. Covers for everyone whilst Counterattacking 13 times doing.... ![]() ![]() -------------------- Does anyone actually like Cait Sith? |

One of my favorite combos was always deathblow with hp absorb. Later in the game I replace deathblow with Master Command for more versatility.

I'm a fan of deathblow with added cut... Boost up the character's luck as much as possible... Even if deathblow doesn't hit, you get an extra attack... Not crazy damage, but like seeing a character hit multiple times... counter attack and cover on the same person is also pretty sweet..
BTW- you can equip more than one counter attack materia and you will counter more than once? Never tried, assumed it would only do it once.. |

Cover, Counter Attack and Long Range with Cloud in the back row is sweet.
Alexander + Elemental for Holy damage works nicely. Mega All with Master Magic Deathblow + MP Absorb Choco Mog + Elemental Poison + Added Effect Gravity + Counter Magic Ultima + Quadra Magic -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Quote (MisterCombo @ 29th March 2010 03:43) BTW- you can equip more than one counter attack materia and you will counter more than once? Never tried, assumed it would only do it once.. Yep you can equip up to 8. It's nice to just sit back and let the characters do all the work. Moreso if you have a 100% Cover materia on the same character. That gets you a lot of hits. I could write a lot on materia. I'll try to keep it short. Not all these combos can be used in the early- to mid-game. One character with HP<->MP + Reflect, another with Cover. (works surprisingly well) Sneak Attack + Morph x4 with Yuffie. (her last weapon does full damage with morph, there are rarely more than 4 monsters per fight) Sneak Attack + Ice x4 at 1 star with no AP, equipped to a zero growth slot. Mega All (1 star Ice is fastest hit in the game taking into account the multiple enemies hit, I believe this is the fastest way of winning battles) Added Effect + Hades on both weapon and armour. (don't need a Ribbon now, useful for Battle Square) Added Effect + Odin on armour. (protects against Death, the 'curse' of the Curse Ring isn't a problem anymore IIRC) Elemental + Kajata on armour. (absorb a lot of different magic damage) Sneak Attack + Shield or Barrier Sneak Attack + Cure (3 star Cure kept in a zero growth slot, Regen is what we want here) Counter + Mime (useful in so many ways) Elemental + Fire/Ifrit on weapon (this is useful in the early game, it's amazing how many monsters are weak to fire) Counter Attack x8 Cover (this protects your other two from harm and deals major damage, useful for auto-leveling if you give this character a Cat's Bell on their accessory to top up their HP) Enemy Lure / Enemy Away (must haves, I can't think of any situation where I would want to fight the default ratio of monsters) Final Attack + Life 2 (superior to Phoenix and Full-Life IMO) Added Effect + Choco Mog (very useful in the early- to mid-game, gives your weapon a Stop status hit, which quite a few bosses and strong monsters are weak against) Pre-Emptive (what an under-appreciated little beauty this materia is, when mastered all your battles will be pre-emptive attacks, worth leveling up as early as possible) W-Item Counter + Mime x2 (yes with W-Item you can make 99 of anything, Mime serves a different purpose here, in this setup you can get the maximum 4 Hero Drinks down you before you've taken your second turn assuming there's a Pre-Emptive materia in the team as well, makes a single character Wicked Sick) -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. (no comment) I didn't get added effect T_T When I was in the Cave of the Gi I thought that it was trap materia and once you got it you couldn't get out. Doesn't Tetra-Elemental/Escort Guard/Minerva Band do that? I don't need any sorta magic protection or anything like that. If I needed it I would cast it. Don't really need it.. .... (no comment) So what I said. Best on Yuffie ![]() Agreed. Full-Life? You mean Full Cure. never thought of it! I thought it was only 50%.... TO CoN FF7 MATERIA THING! *walks back into room* Ah. I gues we were both wrong then *facedesk* Not too bad... although... Max H.Drinks on any one person is 4? Oh... Quote (silakachim @ 29th March 2010 22:29) Doesn't Tetra-Elemental/Escort Guard/Minerva Band do that? But if you use your materia to do this there's a lot more armour that's better, like the Wizard Bracelet on your mage or Zeidrich on the Cover character. Also Curse Rings and Sprint Shoes are more useful accessories. Quote (silakachim @ 29th March 2010 22:29) I thought it was only 50%.... TO CoN FF7 MATERIA THING! *walks back into room* Ah. I gues we were both wrong then *facedesk* Good point, but Pre-Emptives can be stacked, so you only need 2 to get effectively 100% back attacks and 3 if you want to be sure, but there isn't any need. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. It gives you slots but it also puts up your magic by 20. That's pretty much obligatory for a mage until much later in the game.
