i can't get the "honest man" in zozo to sell me rust-rid... he's the one in the merchant outfit outside the building where you get the chainsaw, correct? i think my issue may be that the first time i entered zozo in wor, mog was in my party and he had the moogle charm equipped. this combination also prevented odin's statue from becoming magicite, although that time the game played normally when i removed the charm. such is not the case in zozo, nothing will make anyone in zozo sell me rust-rid... i checked every bulding, and i even harrassed the people lying in the street just to be sure.
i'm using v1.1 in zsnes, and i haven't encountered any other glitches. i would prefer to not write off cyan if it can be helped, and i don't know of any other way to get into mt. zozo or acquire rust-rid. suggestions? in the meantime, i'll be at the jidoor auction house, waiting hopefully... that stupid kid better not ask his dad to buy it. I have no idea what your problem is. Did you go to Maranda yet? That may be the issue. -CSM

Sounds like something I had before, except mine was the PS version.
Anyway, go back to Maranda and make sure the letter gets sent again, then go to Zozo. It has nothing to do with the ruined castle, I always do Zozo way before that. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

The Moogle Charm has no effect other than eliminate random encounters, so linking the Moogle Charm to Odin is odd.
Send Lola's letter with the pigeon, and make sure to talk to the pigeon once you're in Zozo. If this is done, you can buy the Rust-Rid. -------------------- |

I would like to comment that this is the third time someone's been tripped up by that stupid pidgeon. (By my count) I think by now CoN should have a big sign on every page stating TALK TO THE PIDGEON. (Don't feel bad, I forgot the pidgeon too.)

Hey, if any of you guys need to know anything, just let me know (I have the strategy guide). Just label a new forum that pertains to me...
Moderator Edit Firstly, anybody can own a strategy guide, so there is no reason for us to name a forum exclusively after you. Secondly, the strategy guide, having been made by Square, is full of all the mistakes and inaccuracies that Square put into the game in the first place, as I'm sure you've seen with the X-Zone problem with Doom Gaze. The FFVI ROM hackers on this site, including me, Djibriel, RuneLancer, and, most notably, Master ZED, know much more about the workings of the game than the strategy guide. If anybody should have a forum here, it should be Master ZED. Oh, and this post was off-topic anyways, as the question was already answered, and not by you. Thanks. -Caesar This post has been edited by Caesar on 6th August 2006 04:51 -------------------- Profanity is for those who lack the intelligence and imagination to otherwise express themselves. Yes, as if the relatively detailed walkthrough and knowledgable forum members wasn't enough.
Yes, talk to every pidgeon, and examine every clock. You'll be thankful for it later. -------------------- |

thanks djibriel/ultros - i have definitely been thorough in maranda and zozo, but i'm pretty sure i didn't try the pigeon. one of those things that you take as having already done, i suppose... this time i'm playing this thing in short sessions, usually at work, and it's tough to keep track when there are days in between.
however, the moogle charm did screw up my odin encounter 100%. i reloaded and reset, but mog was saved with it equpped. i think it may have something to do with the event trigger on the statue...? and actually, checking every clock means you'll find a bunch of elixir, so that's actually not bad advice. thanks again, guys - soon kefka will be toast and i can play through chrono trigger again. doug |
