Hi everyone!
Just signed up here, and for a specific reason.. I've been desperately looking for a Final Fantasy VII fanfiction I read a few years back, which I found really excellent and that I just can't seem to get my hands on now. Problem is, I don't remember the title or the name of the author, except that she was a girl, and she had fanart that accompanied her fanfics (damn good art, though, like cool, dark drawings of Hojo, partially Jenova altered, Vincent art). Since there seems to be a lot of FF7 fans here, and a lot of fanfiction going around, I'll try describing the elements of the story I remember and see if it rings a bell to anyone. The story was divided in 13 chapters, which were all quite lengthy. The whole fanfic was about the length of a short book. It took place 3 to 4 years after the Meteor events. In it, Cloud works at the Weapon Department in Shinra, Reeves is the new president, Reno's become friends with Cloud. The intrigue of the story starts off with a monster made of mako (a kind of gas-like monster I guess) kidnapping some child (I don't remember who), and Cloud going to find the kid, and getting captured inside the old Shinra Headquarters, by Hojo, who makes a surprising return. Hojo's goal was to get Cloud from the beginning, and works experiments on him, implanting materia into his body like Super Nova. At some point, Cloud goes kinda nuts, from having so much materia put into him, and he summons Super Nova and wipes out a good part of Midgar with it. I don't remember exactly how, but Jenova returns in full form too, as the main bad guy, and Sephiroth is brought back from the lifestream, freed of his madness, to help Cloud and co. defeat Jenova. Anyway, I'm sure this must sound confusing and most of you will probably have no clue what I'm talking about.. but this fanfic was really easy to find a few years back on the net, just searching "Final Fantasy VII fanfic" on Yahoo. I remember talking to the girl who wrote it, to compliment her about the great job she'd done (she also wrote a great fanfic about Vincent in the Nibelheim mansion, shortly after being altered by Hojo, really dark, vampire story, quite cool and well written), and she told me she wasn't too proud of it as it was one of her earlier works. I think she musta taken it off the net... So, if anyone of you has a clue what I'm talking about and might have a way for me to find this fanfic or the author who wrote it... please contact me! I'm desperate to read this fanfic again, it was really good. A more satisfactory sequel than Advent Children turned out to be, for me anyway. |

A quick search on Google and Yahoo for 13 chapter ffvii fanfic turned up nada. Sorry mate.
Regardless, here's to hoping that you stick around the Caves a bit, whether you find your lost fanfic or not. ![]() -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Well, I'll definitely stick around. I've browsed this site many, many times in the past since it is quite a valuable source of Final Fantasy information. I've been a big FF fan since I was 9 years old. FF7's not my favorite FF, but that fanfic's the best one I'd ever found, mostly due to the detail that was put in it. I mean, it was long and quite satisfying. It felt like one or two full extra CD's of FF7 story. Anyway, thanks for looking and for the welcome, mate!

Afraid I don't know of it, but it's more than likely some of the fanfiction writers here could know what you mean.
It sounds oddly familiar. But yeah, I concur: Stick around the caves if you find it or not. And possibly browse our fanfics section if you want to read something other than the one you're after for now. You don't mean Meriko, do you? Her art is really easy to recognize (I hate the way she does noses, but otherwise she's quite talented). Go here to look at some of her art on rpgamer: http://www.rpgamer.com/archives/fanart.cgi..._id=93&skip=140 under Meriko.
She also did a heck of a lot of fanfiction. This post has been edited by Elena99 on 26th October 2006 18:06 -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Not to hijack your thread, but here is one of the best fanfics I've ever read. It deals with Final Fantasy Tactics, and is a good (if albeit short) read.
Children of Ragnarok Moderator Edit Actually, this totally hijacks the thread, sorry. There's nothing here about FFT fics at all, and this is the bloody FF7 forum. -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 26th October 2006 19:20 -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Well, I looked like crazy for this story, mate, but couldn't find it. And I used to read tomes and tomes of the stuff back in '98, '99, so you'd think I would know... anyway, it wasn't by Zahra, was it? "I Know What's Beneath the Snow Fields" author? Or Junj -- "Hell or High Wind," "Cloud Cover"? Do you know any more details about it or about the author?
EDIT: Or was it GlassShard? This post has been edited by L. Cully on 27th October 2006 19:47 -------------------- Some ghost of me might greet my son the day he is delivered. Eternal Sleep, Track 1-1: The Blue Planet |

Too Much In The Sun, it was 10 chapters long, and it happens 13 years after the Meteor events (I guess that's where I got the 13 from). I never thought I'd get to read this fanfic again. Badass! That made my day! (night, since it's 3:20am) Brilliant. Once again, thanks a lot, to all of you for looking, that's really nice of you guys. Well, in any case, if anyone's interested, give it a read! It's a worth a shot. Long, though, might take up a few nights of your time, but definitely worth the read, as far as I remember.
