The first of two bottom-seeds to knock off top seeds in this year's competition, Blinded By Light nipped past The Decisive Battle from FF5 in round one. I'm going to chalk that up to the idea that people didn't realize until listening just how underrated 13 is. ;) Its competition this round squeezed by Freya's Theme in the first round, which isn't totally unexpected in any 8/9 matchup.
Blinded By Light is the main battle theme in this competition from this decade. I don't think I'm alone in numbering this among my personal favorite battle themes in the series, with its opening ear-catching melody building into a sort of soaring chorus dropping straight back down to the opening again. It's a theme played repeatedly in the 13 series that to me doesn't get old. You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet, beyond having just a very long title, strikes a chord with Final Fantasy VII games due to its place in the narrative, as well as its sound which would place it well in the score of a slow-burning mystery film. You might be a little worried when this track plays, and you'd have good reason. |

You Can Hear The Cry Of The Planet is kinda lackluster.
Blinded By The Light is cooler. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I use Mastodon, where I am @[email protected] ( https://sakurajima.moe/@glennmagusharvey ) |

Quote (Narratorway @ 21st November 2017 04:56) Okay, I first want it to be known that I did listen to the FFXIII track. I wouldn't vote for it just for the Manfred Mann reference. No. I voted for it cause I reeeeally liked Undertale's Hopes and Dreams track and now I know where he cribbed it from! Yeesh... Huh. I didn't catch that at all when playing Undertale, but I can kind of see where you're coming from. Doesn't matter to me in this case, as there aren't many potential matchups where I don't vote for BBL anyway.. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I just realized I have been misnaming it "Blinded By The Light".

Always love that point in FFVII, but Blinded by Light, source material aside, is a solid, energizing track with a lot of movement to it. The vote goes its way this time!
