Is anybody planning on participating in Four Job Fiesta this year? It's an annual FF5 celebration that runs through the entire summer. The basic premise is that you get one job per crystal that you're allowed to use, and once a job has been assigned to you, at least one of your characters must be in that job at all times (no freelancers once you have an assigned job).
I did four runs last summer and had an absolute blast. I'll use my first run as an example. I was assigned the Knight job at the wind crystal, so at that point all of my characters were forced to be Knights. At the water crystal, I got Mystic Knight, so at least one char had to be in each job, with the remaining two my choice between those two. I think I mostly kept three in Knight at that point to work toward Two-Handed. At the fire crystal, I got Bard, so once I had access to that job, I had three forced classes and one that could be any of the three. Finally, I got Dragoon at the earth crystal, so I had my team set. You can move between jobs as long as you're always fulfilling those basic rules - doesn't matter who is assigned to what job on the most basic gametype. It's a lot of fun and it is run to benefit Childs Play charity, which is a great cause. This year I plan on streaming a run where I start the game and don't stop until I'm done. It could be a horrible disaster if I get a bad job combo, such as anything involving Geomancer. Assuming we can get it working I will be streaming through CoN's official twitch account! Pre-registration starts on June 1, the actual event should start around June 15th or so. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I'm thinking strongly about it, especially since we just recorded the latest CoNcast talking about it (spoilers, dearie!). I'm not really sure I'll have an opportunity to really get through a run, since I have a lot coming up this summer, but I might well give it a shot.

And it's a pretty easy game to pick up for an hour at a time. When you realize that you only have to do a fraction of the third world, the game becomes much faster. When I get home, I can check on the time commitment of my four runs. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? *blows the dust off this account*
I'm gonna be doing one this year as well! Last year's Fiesta was the first time I've ever sat down and tried to play through the game in earnest. Circumstances got in the way and I didn't finish it but I had a lot of fun! I'll probably be streaming my run, too for friends and anyone else interested. Last year I felt like I lucked out when I got White Mage as my wind job. Real quick I realized just how slow and horrible it is having nothing but 4 White Mages. To keep myself from quitting altogether out of boredom I had to change my run to a Natural. I ended up with White Mage, Mystic Knight, Ninja, and Dancer. I didn;t get to mess with Dancer too much before I had to stop. Currently I'm trying to decide if I should take the BERSERKER RISK EDIT: *hacker voice* I'm in This post has been edited by Malevolence on 29th May 2015 03:21 -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

I'm doing BERSERKERRISK with a 750 run, which will guarantee me a good job from the wind crystal to synergize with the inevitable Berserker (or 2. or ... 3). Very excited for it, it sounds like a fun combo.

I'm registered! Just as a normal run, since I didn't find the help page until after I registered. I love Final Fantasy V, so this should be fun.

I'm having trouble deciding what version to play. I want maximum hurt for me and whoever's co-piloting the stream so I was looking at the PS1 version. How bad are the load times(i've heard they are unbelievably bad)?

A Facebook friend mentioned this.
I would love to try but I'm far behind on a lot of other games I own. That I need to play. Plus I'm normally not that great with completing special challenges within a season of a year. -------------------- I treasure those who I love that love me in return. <3 |

^^^^I didn't finish my run last year either, so I'm finishing it now in anticipation of this year's run
So the SFC fan translation is some first-year Japanese student weeaboo garbage, the PS1 version loads forever, and the GBA version looks terrible on stream and has god-awful music This post has been edited by Malevolence on 1st June 2015 18:26 -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

I finally settled on the GBA version, patched to replace all the music with that of the snes version. Also I found a filter that makes it look good on stream. The GBA version has a really nice localization, fwiw.

I got Thief. I'm kinda worried about going at it without a healer. I chose random so hopefully I'll still get a white mage.

My first run will be White Mage / Berserker / Geomancer / Dancer. Not terrible. Will be very defensive until world 3. I'm very worried about dealing damage to the sealed guardians.

I'm doing a normal run and got Knight to start. Should be a pretty easy way to get started assuming I'm not too lazy to get started.

Honestly? It shouldnt be. The area directly after you get your Wind job is nothing but undead. As long as you can manage the water tower and the Garula fight, you're golden. They even give you a Flail in the ship graveyard.
My run though? Forgot to buy potions, game over'd on Siren. I have two choices: steal potions from the golems forever, or start over. This post has been edited by Malevolence on 23rd June 2015 04:49 -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

Yeah everyone has a dagger. It's just that when she shifts into zombie form she takes almost no damage and hits like a truck. Time to grind, AH S'POSE.
EDIT: If I steal a potion and then run do I still keep the potion? This post has been edited by Malevolence on 23rd June 2015 22:25 -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

Yes, you get the item the moment the steal attempt connects. Actually stealing and running away is a method to steal multiple Thief Gloves from Sekmet at the pyramid.
However, if you were to use the Return magic, you'll restart with the exact same inventory, which means no stolen item for you. But you can steal from the enemy again, which allows you to go for the rare steal if the enemy has a common one and you successfully stole the common one... |

Rolled into world 2 with my team and honestly I had no idea that Geomancer was an actually feasible job. It's amazing for random encounters, and against some bosses (Archeoaevis) it has some great utility. It would suck if I didn't have another magic job to help boost it, but it's not a nightmare like I expected.
Not that anything could be a nightmare in a run with a white mage, but still! -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I got White Mage as my Wind crystal job. I've previously tried to do an all-White-Mage run, so I knew it was feasible in the early game, if a bit slow. I beat Karlabos at level 7 and Siren at level 8. Also didn't have a problem with Magissa and Forza, but I forgot to write down what level I was when I beat them.
I'm now grinding in the Wind Shrine for ABP. I was hoping to get Leather Shoes from the goblins for all my characters, which I did. Next I'll target Moldwynd in hopes of some elixirs. I did try out Bandersnatches for ABP grinding, but they were a bit difficult for my white mages - I lost Bartz and Lenna on the third battle. So I figured I'd get ABP faster by targeting squishy mobs. I tweeted for my Water job, and got Red Mage. Hmm. That should help against Ifrit, which is where my White Mage run got stuck. -------------------- Watch me play games on Twitch! Yeah, at the very worst you can break rods with Red Mage, so if you're not averse to doing that, Ifrit will be a cinch.

I got Monk as my second job. So with the absolute worst possible combination of jobs that doesn't include Berserker, I kept moving forward. Inside the fire ship I find that with these two jobs Liquid Flame is literally unbeatable.
It counters every physical attack (which is all I have) with an attack that hits the whole party for 1/4 to 1/3 of our health. The only healing items available are potions which cannot possibly keep us ahead of the damage. Since I have no money for spending on the Job Fair I guess my run is over. Try again next year.
