CoN Unreal Tournament 2004
We've recently started playing UT2004. At present, we're playing on the following server:
For now, this server is up all the time. We may still move servers sometime if demand becomes too great, at which point we might ask people to chip in on a more dedicated server than poor old Climhazzard.
Updates
We'll try to keep this section updated as best as we can. Promise.
- 1 June 2008:
- Added AS-Jumpship to the maps list, only for people who keep getting forced to download Jumpship objects and textures when connecting to some Assault maps.
- 16 May 2008:
- Added a new section, Non-Game Resources. NGR houses information for the teamspeak servers we use, and also the video capture software used to record insane moments on the server.
- 25 February 2008:
- Created a Maps page to hold links to all downloadable maps used on the server. Added a download for a new gametype that we will soon start using, called Freon, in the System section. We'll start loading these up on the server in a few days, so please download as soon as you can. Finally, fixed links to Hall of Giants and Crane, so if you don't have it yet you can get it now. Finally, upgraded MapMixer version—if you don't download it here, you'll have to download the client next time you connect.
Downloads
We use some additional custom files that don't come with the default UT2004 installation. If you're missing necessary files, they should automatically download from UnrealAdmin.org's redirection service. However, you can save yourself some time by getting the things you need in advance.
We recommend getting hold of the following:
Essentials
- UT2004 Mega Pack
- This pack contains UT2004 Patch v3369, the ECE Bonus Content, and also several new maps. This is the most important file to get hold of for playing UT2004 on our server. Without it, you'll find you get stuck when we get to one of the bonus maps.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up the other files mentioned there too. We don't have all of them installed yet, but we may later add them.
Maps
Well, we've gone and done it—we've added so many maps that they're making this page ridiculously long. If you want maps (and you do), please hit up the new maps page.
System
- MapMixer
- We use this for custom map rotations. The client part of this should download when you connect, and it isn't too big, but it doesn't appear to be mirrored on UnrealAdmin.org so you'll have to take your chances with downloading it directly unless you install it for yourself in advance. If you want to, pick up the latest release version (not alpha or beta).
- Classic Domination
- We're doing some testing on CDom now to see if stats works with it. Classic Domination is the forerunner, and the superior game mode, to Double Domination. It's a big honkin' package, but it includes maps too.
- ArenaMaster Mod
- ArenaMaster is a new third-party gametype that works a bit like Counter-Strike. However, since the Counter-Strike model is really kind of a lame gametype, we'll be using their "Freon" type instead, which works like freeze tag. With guns.
- Enforcer
- This brings back the original Enforcer pistols from the original Unreal Tournament. These files need to be placed in your UT system folder. You definitely need to download these from here, and not get them from the UT server, because there is one minor bug involved - the game thinks the Enforcer is the most powerful weapon in the game. Easy fix, though: go into Settings -> Weapons. Once the weapons database loads, use the Weapon Priorities box to move the Enforcer down to the same position as the Assault Rifle. Click back, and you're all set.
Models
- Bender
- Back by popular demand, the Bender model has been installed on the UT server. He even has a new voicepack compiled by R51 to improve quality and breadth of voices. DL it now or DL it as you connect, but you're better off getting it now.
- Mars Attacks!
- The Martian from Mars Attacks! Complete with custom voicepack.
- Idolatry
- A cool cybernetic model, blend of cybernetic, Egyptian, and medieval style.
- Rinoa
- Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII, only maybe a bit skinnier.
- Kefka
- Kefka from Final Fantasy VI, now with extra evil!
- Kabuki
- For a very special bot in all our lives.
- Parabox Bender
- Bender from an alternate universe. No, really, this was in an episode.
- Space Marines
- For tabletop gaming nerds. Also, don't forget the new associated voicepack.
- Pandarian Brewmaster
- Tubby and likes alcohol. Sound like anyone you know?
Non-Game Resources
Teamspeak Servers
- Darkmyst
- The server sponsored by the IRC network that hosts CoN chat. This server rarely, if ever, works these days, so we tend to not even try it. Information is here for sake of completeness.
- Dark Racing Team
- German server that has good quality, decent uptime, and sometimes hilariously angry Germans.
- Adler Kommando
- Another German server. As yet not extensively tested, but seems to work fine.
- Ahonoki
- French server that uses port 7000, possibly making it available to users who might otherwise be firewalled off.
- Fusion Gaming
- American server with apparently high capacity.
- Korruption Kafe
- American server on the extremely robust Gameservers.com network, which nearly guarantees uptime and quality.
