Ziegfried

Biography

Ziegfried is a thief and a swordsman encountered several times during Final Fantasy VI. He steals a treasure chest from the Phantom Train while Sabin and Cyan are on it, but flees before the treasure is recovered. In the second half of the game he accompanies Gerad and a group of bandits sneaking through the cave to South Figaro, but he leaves before entering Figaro Castle. Lastly, he can be encountered in Dragon's Neck Colosseum when betting certain items.

It's possible the the "first" Ziegfried (the thief) is an imposter, appropriating the name and appearance of the "real" Ziegfried (the swordsman). Or so Ziegfried claims in the Colosseum lobby. In the mountains north of Thamasa, Ultros mentions that he knows Ziegfried the thief.

Gameplay

Ziegfried is encountered in combat twice, once on the Phantom Train and as an encounter in Dragon's Neck Colosseum. On the Phantom Train, Ziegfried's attacks are quick but pitifully weak, and he is likely to flee before Sabin can knock him out. At the Colosseum, Ziegfried is a powerhouse, whose Hyperdrive and Throw attacks ignore defense and are likely to kill in one hit.
