19. The Guru on Mt. Woe

Enemies:	Rubble, Gargoyle, Bantam Imp, Stone Imp, Man Eater
Treasures:	Lode Helm, Barrier x3, Lapis x2, FullEther x2, Shield x2, Shelter, Lode Vest, Time Hat, Magic Tab

Once you arrive at Mt. Woe, you'll fight a Rubble, who gives 100 Tech Points. After you defeat it, head to the north. Fight the imps and then curve around to grab the treasure chest. Afterwards, head back to where you fought the Rubble and go left up the chain. After the fight, go up the next chain like a ladder to get to the next area.

Fight the Rubble off to the left, then turn right and fight the two Gargoyles. After the next battle, turn and go right to get the chests and fight another Rubble. This Rubble, unlike every other on the mountain, will regenerate if you leave the mountain and come back. In this way, you could potentially learn many of the good techs for characters that you've neglected in a short amount of time. After grabbing the chests, you can go to the northwest corner for another chest, then wind to the middle of the raised platform for another chest. Afterwards, head to the right, across the chain, fight a battle, and make your way down another chain ladder. Exit out via the right chain bridge.

Right of the Man Eaters are two chests - one involves a combat - and north of them, after the fight, lies an opportunity for two chests, but only if you want to fight two Man Eaters and three Gargoyles. Whether you do or not, cross to the right, save your game, and climb up the chain ladder. A shelter might be nice because after the next area with two chests - as well as a Magic Tab in the lower-right corner - you're about to fight a boss.



Afterwards, Melchior will be released and Mt. Woe will collapse. Back in Algetty, Schala will come and explain that she has turned her back on the Mammon Machine, which will awaken Lavos. Dalton will come and abduct Schala. Afterwards, talk to Melchior and he'll give you a Ruby Knife and you're told to go to the Ocean Palace to stop the Mammon Machine and the queen.
