The Guru of Time mentioned a ghost in the Middle Ages slain by Magus. Frog, if you talk to him, seems to think that this must be Cyrus. In this quest, you can repower the SwordMasamune and make it Frog's best weapon. You can also get Marle's best weapon and some excellent armor. Begin by heading to Choras Village in 600 A.D., which is located west of the Cursed Woods.

The village offers no items, just houses important to the Cyrus quest. Start by going to the cafe and talking one of the men who is sitting at the table, complaining about his lack of tools. This sets the quest into motion. Head back to 1000 A.D., where there is another Choras waiting to be explored. At the inn here, talk to the man chugging back the soda pop and he'll give you permission to go to his house and get his tools from his wife. Go to the residence and talk to the man's wife. She'll go grab his tools and give them to you. Go back to the Cafe in 600 A.D. and the man will thank you for the tools. Follow him to his residence and he'll go fix the Northern Ruins for you.

When you enter the Northern Ruins, the man and his four workers will all leave, saying they can't fix any more due to monster infestation. Go down the left staircase first, and you'll have to fight the following groups of monsters: Sentry x2, Sentry x2, Sentry x4. Grab the HyperEther, then head back to the first floor and down the staircase on the right. The enemy groups here are: Defunct and Reaper x2, Defunct and Reaper x2, and Defunct x2 and Reaper x2. After you fight all these groups, go back to the Carpenter's House and hire him for renovations.

Back at the Northern Ruins, there are more monsters he needs you to exterminate. Head down the left staircase and move on, and you'll see Cyrus' headstone. Put link in your party and examine it, and Frog will call Cyrus' ghost out from its grave. After a sad farewell, the Masamune will turn back into Masa and Mune from Denadoro Mountain, and they'll recharge the SwordMasamune, making it Frog's best weapon. Onward through the ruins!

Head back to the Carpenter, and hire him to fix them. When you hit the ruins again, they'll be completely fixed, allowing you full access to the chests. Remember though: When you see a sealed chest, charge it up in 600 A.D. first, then open it in 1000 A.D., THEN go back and open it in 600 A.D. Doing this will net you the best armor in the game - the ArmorMoon Armor - and Marle's best weapon - the BowValkyrie. All the regular chests in the ruins can be opened twice by getting them first in 1000 A.D., then in 600.
